Everything You Need to Apply — Step by Step


Propel Your Purpose offers grassroots nonprofits a $1,000 operational grant, plus 12 months of training and mentorship to help you grow. Here’s everything you need to know about applying.

When Grants open, we will email all nonprofits that are registered as a Nonprofit Associate at our

partner company, The Nonprofit Cooperative


  • Step 1: Timeline

    • Applications Due: Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 PM EST on the posted deadline.
    • Review Period: Within 30 days of submission
    • Grant Announcements: 3–4 months after the cycle closes
  • Step 2: Eligibility

    To apply, you must:


    • Be a U.S.-based nonprofit (with or without 501(c)(3) status; fiscal sponsors accepted)
    • Be passionate about your mission and looking to grow
    • Be registered with The Nonprofit Cooperative
    • Attend two free professional development events
  • Step 3: Submit Your Application

    Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 PM EST on the posted deadline.


    Late or incomplete applications are not considered.

  • Step 4: Requirements

    • Register at TheNonprofitCooperative.org
    • Participate in two training events (see calendar)
    • Submit your application (video + written) by the deadline
  • Step 5: How to Apply

    1. Video Application (5–7 minutes)

    Answer all four questions:

    • What is your mission and vision?
    • What impact are you making?
    • How would this grant help your organization?
    • How would you use the funds?

    Simple phone/Zoom video is fine. No PowerPoints.


    2. Written Application

    • Basic nonprofit information
    • Most recent IRS Form 990 (or bylaws if you’re a startup)
  • TIP: Review Process

    1. Step 1: NCF staff narrows applicants to 5 per grant
    2. Step 2: Grants Committee recommends 1 finalist per grant
    3. Step 3: Finalists provide additional documents (990, bylaws, financials, leadership lists, etc.)
    4. Step 4: Board approves grantees
  • Award Notification

    All approved applicants receive an official award letter. Video quality is not judged — what matters is your passion and impact.
